What are Your Favorite Thanksgiving Foods? Here are Ours! | November 2016

THANKSGIVING IS just around the corner! Not only is it a time to share good company, it’s a time to share good food!

It’s Time To Share Our Favorite Thanksgiving Dishes!

Each family has their own signature dish they serve this time of year. Today, we’d like to share some of our team member’s favorites!

From Michelle

My favorite dish is the Dressing because it has apples and walnuts. This is a Secret Family Recipe, but here is another:

Pumpkin Bars:

4 eggs                                                   2 C. flour sifted

2 tsps. Cinnamon                                 ½ tsp. salt (optional)

2 C. Sugar                                             1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp baking soda                                1 C. vegetable oil

16 oz can of pumpkin                            nuts

Beat eggs and flour.  Add vegetable oil, pumpkin, salt, cinnamon, baking soda and baking powder.  Stir until smooth.  Add flour last.  Bake in a greased and floured 10” x 15” jelly roll pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.  Test with a toothpick, should come out clean.  Frost with powdered sugar icing.

Icing:

2 C. powdered sugar

3 Tbsp. soft butter

2 Tbsp milk.

From Ashely:

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is Pumpkin Pie, of course!  A dish my family has every year is corn casserole.  It goes great with turkey, and even on biscuits.

Corn Casserole:

2 14oz cans of creamed corn                        1 tsp. salt

2 beaten eggs                                              ¾ cup milk

1 cup town house crackers , crumbled, divided

3 tablespoons butter, melted.

Mix corn, eggs, milk, salt & pepper in a casserole dish. Mix in half of the cracker crumbs. Mix remaining crumbs with butter. Sprinkle on top of corn mixture. Bake uncovered at 325 for about 1 hour.

From Sara:

My favorite dish is the Brussel Sprouts. I cook shallots and bacon down until the bacon is crispy. Then I add the fresh brussel sporuts to the pan (DO NOT drain the bacon grease) with about 2 TBL. Butter. I saute everthing until the brussel sprouts are just tender, and then salt and pepper. They are delicious. My favorite tradition is the full Thanksgiving dinner with my family and watching the Macy’s Parade in our pajamas.
