Dental Crowns and Bridges (CEREC)

Dental crowns and bridges are indirect restorations that are made outside of the mouth and are then placed with bonding materials over the teeth in need. While many dentists in the area use outside laboratories to create these restorations, Madsen and Hirsch Dental Care provides in-office restoration fabrication. We can do this because we have our own CEREC machine, which is a CAD/CAM machine that allows us to digitally create and mill our own porcelains and ceramics in order to create same-day restorations such as dental crowns, fillings, and veneers.  This is an extreme advantage for both dentist and patient as it affords patients the ability to have restorations done during a single appointment, instead of having to take impressions and reschedule a follow-up appointment for the restoration to be bonded into place. This also eliminates the need for a temporary crown to be placed in the interim, so it saves steps as well as time!

Crowns and bridges made from CEREC machines are even stronger than most laboratory-created restorations. The material continues to improve and become stronger, allowing these restorations to last upwards of 20 to 30 years with proper care and maintenance. As technology advances, so does our ability to provide the best in cosmetic restorations for our patients.

Crowns are used on teeth that have become weakened. Teeth that have received extensive fillings or have undergone root canal therapy will benefit from a dental crown as it will protect the tooth from further damage. A bridge is used for patients who are missing a tooth. Bridges are essentially a false tooth connected to two crowns in order to be placed over the surrounding teeth to address a gap left behind from a missing tooth. These are alternatives to partial dentures and dental implants.
